106-1 The Corner is a different kind of radio station. One major difference is that we actually support and play local and regional bands from Charlottesville, Albemarle County, and Central Virginia. We have a nightly feature called Live and Local. Every night at 8pm, we will give you a run down of some local shows happening that night/week/month and play a track or two from one of the bands we mention. We also feature some local music in regular playlist rotation, and on nights when a great area band has a performance in town. Keep tuned for "Live and Local Weekends" where we play 3-5 local band songs per hour, usually about once every six to eight weeks.
If you represent a local band (or if your significant other is a band member and you're the P.R. person), please submit their CD's and press kit for airplay consideration!
Mail the CD's to 106-1 The Corner, Attn: Local Music Department, 1140 Rose Hill Drive, C-Ville, VA 22903. Or drop the CD's by our studios during regular business hours (9am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday). 106-1 The Corner will review local music for production quality, lyrical content (no swearing, please), and of course if it is something we like that will fit the sound of our station.
