Brighten the Corners

Videos of the Day – week of 2/24/14

2/23 – Steve Martin, Edie Brickell & The Steep Canyon Rangers have a live concert special coming to PBS Great Performances in March, then to DVD on 3/11!  Here’s their twist on the traditional murder ballad, “Pretty Little One”

2/25 – I really dig the German band The Notwist…their new album is out today on Sub Pop.  This video makes me like them even more!  According to the band, it’s “based on a true story that involved Marcus Acher (the band’s singer) and his family being trapped in their home during an Ammer River flood in Weilheim, Germany. During the experience, the young Acher resorted to fantasy, secretly hoping a superhero would save his family as the waters rose around them.”

2/26 – the new Little Dragon album isn’t out til May, but here’s the great new single already!

2/27 – the Austin, TX band Ume has an interesting take on the lyric video concept with this new track…

2/28 – some Dublin teenagers called The Strypes have made fans of Elton John, Dave Grohl, Noel Gallagher & Paul Weller (among others) & now their EP is out in the U.S.  See what you think of their brand of “garage rock”
