I caught the radio bug while still in high school in my hometown of Springfield, IL, working part-time in news/sports/talk & Top 40 (back when Casey Kasem’s weekend show was on vinyl!).  As a kid, I wanted to be the next Jack Buck, until I realized how difficult play-by-play really is!  I graduated from the University of Missouri in ’97 and expanded my musical palette greatly by working at the legendary KCOU college radio station. I worked at a great group of stations in Columbia, MO (including KBXR) from ’95-’06 until The Corner brought me to Charlottesville in November of 2006.

In addition to radio, my college & post-college years have been filled with concerts & travel (mainly in the service of seeing concerts!).  Just a few of my all-time favorites: The Pixies at a Jefferson-sized place (The Blue Note in Columbia MO) in ’91, U2 on the Zoo TV tour in St. Louis in ’92, Lollapalooza ’92 in St. Louis (which is where I saw Pearl Jam for the 1st of 20+ times!), Ben Harper with PJ Harvey in Chicago in ’95, Bonnaroo (all 7 times I’ve gone!!), David Bowie 2004 Fox Theater in St. Louis, The Avett Brothers w/ Jessica Lea Mayfield 2007 Satellite Ballroom, Paul McCartney at Fed Ex Field 2009, U2 at Scott Stadium 2009, Pearl Jam’s PJ 20 festival in 2011 in Wisconsin, Bruce Springsteen’s acoustic set at the Pavilion stumping for Obama in 2012 and of course, PEARL JAM at JPJ in CVILLE in 2013!

I’ve loved my time here, esp. recording Corner Lounge sessions & hosting Brighten The Corners (Tuesdays 10-midnight & now heard each weekday with Kendall at noon and me at 6pm!).  I’m also grateful to be able to represent The Corner at amazing festivals like SXSW, Bonnaroo, Lockn’ and more!  Among other things, Cville has taught me to embrace my inner mandolin lover, and it’s also where (in 2008) I met my amazing wife, Elizabeth!  We live in Crozet along with our cat Louie and our son, who will turn 2 years old in late March of 2016!  Our whole family loves to root for the Hoos (esp. basketball & baseball), and we try to enjoy the mountains & trails as much as we can, driving & hiking, esp. around Western Albemarle, Nelson, & Augusta.

REVIEW: In-fighting is entertaining in ‘Captain America: Civil War’

"Civil War" stands out as certainly the biggest of the stand-alones, and among the best because of what it has in common with the better films in the Marvel universe: the conflict is deeply human, told humorously, and best enjoyed if you don't overthink it.
