Delta glitch gives flyers cheap fares

NEW YORK (AP) — For some fortunate flyers, Christmas came a day late — but it was still cool.

For a couple of hours yesterday, some Internet surfers scored some cheap flights on Delta Air Lines.

During that time, certain flights were showing up with incorrect fares — fares that gave travelers big breaks. For example, a roundtrip flight between Cincinnati and Minneapolis next month went for just $25.05. Another round trip — this one between Cincinnati and Salt Lake City for $48.41.

Each of those journeys would usually cost more than $400 to book.

A spokesman for Delta says the pricing problem has since been fixed — but the airline will honor any fares that were bought at the incorrect price.

It isn’t just because Delta is brimming with Christmas spirit, either. New Department of Transportation rules aimed at truth in advertising require airlines to honor any mistake fares offered.
