KISS star Gene Simmons has confirmed reports suggesting he and bandmate Paul Stanley attempted to sign Christian quarterback Tim Tebow to their arena football team L.A. KISS.

Tebow split fans while playing for the New York Jets and Denver Broncos and has since quit to become a sports broadcaster, but Simmons reveals he made a pitch for the star before he made the decision to become a pundit.

The rocker, whose L.A. KISS team underperformed in its first season – only winning three of 18 games, tells TV Guide that he’s still hopeful Tebow will sign up.

He says, “He’s got aspirations to be a broadcaster… but we would love for him to come on board because he’s a family guy, a devout Christian, doesn’t use drugs or booze, and he doesn’t torture dogs (reference to disgraced New York Jets quarterback Michael Vick).
