GRACO CAR SEAT RECALL EXPANDS TO MORE THAN 4M

Graco Children’s Products has added 403,222 child seats to last month’s recall of 3.8 million to replace faulty harness buckles.

But the added seats won’t end a dispute with the U.S. government’s road safety watchdog. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration still wants Graco to add 1.8 million infant seats to the recall because they have the same buckles.

Buckles can get gummed up by food and drinks, making it difficult to remove children. In some cases parents have had to cut harnesses to get their children out. The agency says the problem increases the injury risk in emergencies.

Graco says in a letter to the agency that it found additional toddler and harnessed booster seats that should be recalled. The company still believes the infant seats should be excluded.

CHRYSLER RECALLS 49K DODGE CHARGERS TO FIX HEADLIGHTS

Chrysler Group said on Thursday it is recalling about 49,400 full-size Dodge Charger cars for possible overheating of headlight parts.

Chrysler, a unit of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, said customer service data led engineers to investigate reports similar to those that prompted a 2012 recall of more than 9,600 Charger police cars from model years 2011 and 2012 to address overheating of jumper harnesses and other parts.

In the latest recall, Chrysler said it will inspect and replace if needed at no cost to the owner the headlight jumper harnesses and bulbs, or headlight assembles on certain 2011-2012 model-year Charger cars equipped with halogen headlights. Chrysler said it will contact affected owners and tell them when they can schedule service.

BRAKE PROBLEM PROMPTS JEEP, DODGE RECALL

Chrysler Group LLC said it is recalling 25,250 Jeep and Dodge sport utility vehicles globally to address a braking issue.

Chrysler, a unit of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, said the recall is being done to improve pedal feel during certain aggressive braking maneuvers. An investigation found brake fluid flow was being restricted too much and the company said it is updating software to improve the flow and restore appropriate pedal feel.

Chrysler said a supplier raised a concern about a part that accommodates Ready Alert Braking, a safety system that primes brakes for optimal response when making a sudden stop. The company said brake function was not lost or out of compliance, but pedal feel was not consistent with customer expectations.

Chrysler said it will notify customers when to schedule service, the cost of which the company will cover.

CANNON RECALLS 14K DIGITAL CAMERAS

Cannon has announced a recall of 14,000 digital cameras to fix a rubber part of the viewfinders that can cause skin irritation. The PowerShot SX50 HS was sold at nationwide retailers and online through outlets including Amazon. Consumers should stop using the camera and contact Cannon for a repair.
