The San Antonio Spurs have hired the NBA’s first regular season female assistant coach.

The team hired Becky Hammon, a former WNBA player with the San Antonio Stars who plans to retire from playing professionally this year.

The 37-year-old is the first woman to serve as an assistant coach during the regular season, according to Time. Another professional baller, Natalie Nakase, made history by becoming the first female assistant coach in the NBA, sitting on the bench for the Los Angeles Clippers’ 2014 summer league.

“I very much look forward to the addition of Becky Hammon to our staff,” Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich said in a statement. “Having observed her working with our team this past season, I’m confident her basketball IQ, work ethic and interpersonal skills will be a great benefit to the Spurs.”
