Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy is taking a break from the band to release his debut solo album and embark on a new tour.

The rocker reveals he has been working on his own music away from the group and he will share the songs with fans on a solo trek across North America.

He has assembled his own backing band, which includes his own son Spencer on drums.

The 16-date tour will kick off in Detroit, Michigan on June 5 and conclude at the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island at the end of July.

Further details about Tweedy’s solo project have yet to be released.
