Crime Up In Albemarle During 2013

Crime is up by 11.3% in Albemarle County, but arrests are down. That’s comparing figures from 2013 to 2012. There were 3353 arrests in 2012. That dropped to 2990 in 2013. County Police spokeswoman Carter Johnson says one explanation is cases in which one person is arrested for multiple crimes. The biggest increase involved larcenies, which were up 16.5%. Violent crime was up as well.
