Appalachian Power Warns About New Scam

Appalachian Power has a warning for those who run small businesses. Scam artists are calling up businesses and posing as utility representatives. The bogus callers threaten to disconnect service if a payment is not received. In some cases, the victims are told to buy prepaid debit cards to make the payment. An Appalachian Power spokeswoman says her utility will not demand a payment in this manner. She says hang up on the scam artist, and call Appalachian Power and your local law enforcement agencies.
