Many of the local teenagers who will head off to college in the fall are leaving high school behind. Saturday was graduation day for the Class of 2014 at Charlottesville High School, Albemarle High School, and Monticello High School. Western Albemarle High School had its big event Friday night. The University of Virginia’s John Paul Jones Arena (pictured) is the place where most high school seniors attend their commencement exercises. Because of a more brutal than normal winter, many area school divisions still have at least one more week of classes.
