The body of a Botetourt County man has been retrieved from Smith Mountain Lake. State officials say 37-year-old man Timothy O’Quinn was thrown into the water after two boats collided late Friday night near Rabbit Island in Bedford County. Investigators say O’Quinn did not wear a life jacket, and drowned in one of the deepest parts of the lake. He was the first fatality of the boating season at Smith Mountain Lake.
