Former UVA pitcher Sean Doolittle has been having a great season with the Oakland A’s thus far, viewed by many as the best team in baseball with a record of 55-33.  Doolittle has pitched 42.1 innings with a 2.98 ERA and 61 strike outs.  He also has 13 saves on the year thus far.  Doolittle is one of 6 players selected from the Oakland A’s, who just traded for Jeff Samardzjia who was selected as an NL All Star before he was traded, and now cannot play in the game.

Doolittle was a stand out pitcher for the Hoos in 2005 and 2006, and previously held the record for career wins with 22 before it was broken by Danny Hultzen.  There are also a few other Wahoos that are currently major league players, including Ryan Zimmerman( Nationals), Javier Lopez (Giants), Mark Reynolds (Brewers), Brandon Guyer (Rays), Michael Schwimer (Phillies), David Adams (Yankees), and Kyle Crockett (Indians).

Another boost for a Virginia program that is coming off 53 wins and an appearance in the College World Series Finals.
