Republican Ed Gillespie has raised $2.2 million dollars in his bid to unseat Democratic U.S. Senator Mark Warner. Senior officials in the Gillespie campaign say 60% of the donors are Virginians, and 15 of them contributed to Warner’s prior campaigns. Gillespie (pictured) is considered the front runner to win the Republicans’ nomination, which will be decided at a June 7th convention in Roanoke.
