Virginia’s junior U.S. Senator is backing Hillary Rodham Clinton for president if the former Secretary of State and onetime U.S. Senator from New York seeks the Democratic nomination in 2016. Tim Kaine (pictured) characterizes the 66-year-old Clinton as a “classic American optimist” and says she has compassion and skill. Clinton plans to embark on a national tour next month to promote a memoir about her State Department years. Kaine has brought his pro-Clinton message to South Carolinians. He was chosen as the main speaker for the South Carolina Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, which is a major fundraising event for Democrats.
