Lawsuit Involving Health Care At Women’s Prison Could Be Delayed

Lawsuit Involving Health Care At Women’s Prison Could Be Delayed

A lawsuit that accuses the women’s prison in Fluvanna County of having deficient medical services might be delayed. That’s because the Virginia Department of Corrections is changing its health care provider. Armor Correctional Health Services, which is based in Florida, will begin providing medical care in the state prison system on October 1st. The prison system and current provider Corizon are being sued by five inmates at the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women. The defendants have asked a judge who hears cases at the Vinegar Hill Federal Building (pictured) to put the litigation on hold and dismiss the current provider as a defendant. A trial is set for December 1st.
