Longtime City Schools Administrator Dies

A pioneer in the city school system has passed away. Longtime educator Mary Reese died this past weekend. Reese was an administrator in the Charlottesville schools for many years. Reese was Charlottesville’s first African-American assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. Local community leader John Gaines says Reese was instrumental in establishing the education program for 4-year-olds.
