Local advocates for mental health services want more money from this year’s General Assembly. Robert Johnson (pictured) of Region Ten is urging city officials to lobby our region’s lawmakers for extra help. Johnson has been encouraged by a budget recommendation from outgoing Governor Bob McDonnell. McDonnell wants the 2014 General Assembly to consider an additional $38 million for mental health services.  Johnson has also referenced the November 19th attack on local State Senator Creigh Deeds at his Bath County home. The lawmaker’s 24-year-old son stabbed his father several times before taking his own life. The General Assembly will convene on Wednesday.
