Catholics Told Not To Donate To ALS Association

The Catholic Diocese of Richmond is asking parishes and schools that participate in the ice bucket challenge not to send money to the ALS Association. The diocese says it’s fine to send donations to other organizations that combat Lou Gehrig’s disease. It draws the line at the ALS Association because it uses embryonic stem cells for research. The Catholic Church compares the use of embryonic stem cells to abortion, which it says violates the sanctity of human life.
