Restaurant Owner Wins Community Award

The winner of an annual community award has been announced. The bi-lingual business journal known as Forward/Adelante presents the Chuck Lewis Passion Award each year. The latest winner is Melvin Walker (pictured), owner of Mel’s Cafe on West Main Street. Walker was born and raised in the Vinegar Hill neighborhood and began his restaurant career at nine years old, washing dishes at the Virginian restaurant on the University Corner. The award that’s named after the late businessman Chuck Lewis will be presented June 24th. (Photo from Forward/Adelante)
