The Albemarle Supervisors might add items dealing with taxation to their 2015 “wish list” for the General Assembly. The General Assembly has traditionally resisted giving counties the level of taxing authority that cities enjoy. County leaders have wanted to explore alternatives to the real property tax. A majority of the supervisors voted last spring to raise the property tax rate to help out the county schools.
