The Jefferson Area Tea Party used Tuesday’s tax day to condemn recent actions by the city and county.  Tea Party leaders are upset with the majority of the Albemarle Supervisors who voted earlier in the day to raise the property tax rate.  They have also blasted the City Councilors who voted on April 11th to increase the Charlottesville cigarette tax. The local Tea Party is also celebrating its fifth anniversary. Mike Basile of North Garden is the group’s new leader. He has succeeded Carole Thorpe (pictured),who has run the organization during most of its history.
