The University of Virginia’s New Cabell Hall has a new 21st century look. The six-story building that towers over Jefferson Park Avenue has undergone a $64.5 million renovation. The building, which first opened in 1952 , houses most of the language departments in UVA’s College of Arts and Sciences. A central staircase is now encased in glass, and adds more light into the building. Brian Hogg, who’s a senior planner for the University, says it’s an important part of students’ lives. Hogg (pictured) says “There was a time when you couldn’t go to school here without having a class in New Cabell Hall.”
