VDOT has postponed a public hearing on a proposed facelift for the Route 230 bridge that straddles the Greene and Madison County line. The event was originally planned for 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, BUT it’s getting a 48-hour delay. It’s been rescheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday at American Legion Post 128 on Madison Road in Stanardsville. VDOT wants to replace the superstructure and widen the current bridge, which was built in 1939. Construction of the nearly $4 million project is slated to start in the spring of 2016.
