A Virginia Tech student-athlete has died after an accident involving a rope swing in North Carolina. 20-year-old Alex Hable used a rope to swing into Lake Gaston near the Virginia-North Carolina border. His body was found on a rock near the lake at around 3 p.m. Friday. Hable was a men’s lacrosse player for the Hokies, and his family is in Chesterfield County. The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is still trying to determine how he died.
City Police are investigating Saturday morning gunshots on McIntire Road and a car being abandoned on Hillsdale Drive.
