The wife of Delegate David Toscano is recuperating after being beaten Monday night in her house near Park Street. A teacher at William Monroe High School was arrested a short time later and charged with burglary, abduction, and malicious wounding. City Police say 35-year-old Claire Kennedy Ogilvie (pictured) is being held without bond at the regional jail. Police say Toscano’s wife, Nancy Tramontin, was hit in the head several times. She was treated and released from Martha Jefferson Hospital. Toscano says he and his wife know Ogilvie but they had not seen her for more than a year. Toscano says he came home from Richmond and took his wife to the hospital. He expects her to make a full recovery. Ogilvie has been on the faculty at William Monroe High School and previously taught at the Peabody School. Greene Superintendent Andrea Whitmarsh says the school division is cooperating with investigators. Toscano says he hopes his family’s privacy will be respected, and he appreciates people keeping them in their thoughts. Both Toscano and Ogilvie have past associations with the UVA Semester At Sea program. On her home page, Ogilvie says she’s been on the Semester at Sea cruise twice, and she’s been on the game shows “Jeopardy!” and “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.”
