Billie Joe Armstrong to tackle Shakespeare musical
Billie Joe Armstrong to tackle Shakespeare musical

Green Day star Billie Joe Armstrong is heading back to the theatre to pen music for a new Yale Repertory Theater adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing.”

The singer, who co-created Broadway hit American Idiot and briefly appeared onstage in the show, will be among the contributors for These Paper Bullets, which will premiere in March, 2014.

Armstrong is currently on tour with Green Day after checking into rehab and postponing a series of dates and appearances late last year, following a meltdown onstage in Las Vegas in September.

The rocker battled substance abuse and alcohol issues.
