(AP) — One of the last times we saw Eddie Murphy sing into a microphone, he nearly won an Oscar for his work in “Dreamgirls” — at least until “Norbit” came along. Now the comedian is turning to music again.

He has dropped a music video for the new single of his upcoming album.

“Red Light” has a reggae vibe and features Snoop Lion. Murphy says he has always loved music — and feels music gives him a way to address what he says are the “many important issues and events taking place in our country and the world.”

The new album is titled “9″ — and is due out early next year.
