Leann Rimes can put up with the worst critics throw at her because she grew up surrounded by bullies who resented her success as a child star.

The “Blue” singer has become a target for catty bloggers and Twitter lovers in recent years after her affair with Eddie Cibrian broke up both their marriages, but she insists her youth prepared her for all the negativity.

She explains, “When I was in junior high (school)… a lot of girls can get real mean during the sixth grade year. I used to perform around Dallas, where I lived, a lot and my principal would put something on the bulletin board if I was in the newspaper or something, and there was this clique of girls that did not like it.”

“I had my locker egged, I had a girl bring a knife to school the last day of sixth grade and tried to kill me.”
