It was a banner year for live albums too, with Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, and Tift Merritt among those I found great. And it was awesome to see The Woodstock Experience series finally give a proper release to Sly & The Family Stone’s full Woodstock set, coinciding with the 40^th anniv. of the legendary festival.

Kudos to Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, and Built to Spill (among other indie legends) for continuing to do that thing they each do so well…

Cheers to Lisa Hannigan and The Features, 2 of my favs from 2008 that got released stateside and got re-released in 2009, respectively…

While I don’t think I can help that my tolerance/attention span for new music isn’t getting any greater in my old age (I’d like to think it’s still way higher than the typical person my age!), I’m still trying to at least not be set in my ways, if that makes any sense. As everybody from the band down the street to the bands I’ve loved for 20-30 years not only keeps making music, but keeps releasing that music for consumption….let’s hope the quality-to-quantity ratio is an ever-improving one in the years to come.
