(CHARLOTTESVILLE – WINA) Charlottesville Police are investigating two separate attempted abductions. A woman has told detectives a man approached her from behind while she was walking alone at 8 p.m. Sunday in the 200-block of West Water Street. The suspect fled after he put his hand over the woman’s mouth and she started to yell. He was reported to be wearing a black hoodie with red sleeves.
Less than 72 hours earlier, a woman reported an attempted abduction near the UVA Corner business district. That was between 1 and 2 a.m. Friday in the 1100-block of Wertland Street. The earlier victim reported a man fled after he had wrestled her to the ground. The suspect on Wertland Street was a white male with dark clothing. He has brown hair, is between 5’6 and 5’8, and has a stocky build.
