(CHARLOTTESVILLE – WINA)  Charlottesville Police are investigating two separate attempted abductions.  A woman has told detectives a man approached her from behind while she was walking alone at 8 p.m. Sunday in the 200-block of West Water Street.  The suspect fled after he put his hand over the woman’s mouth and she started to yell.  He was reported to be wearing a black hoodie with red sleeves.

Less than 72 hours earlier, a woman reported an attempted abduction near the UVA Corner business district.  That was between 1 and 2 a.m. Friday in the 1100-block of Wertland Street.  The earlier victim reported a man fled after he had wrestled her to the ground.  The suspect on Wertland Street was a white male with dark clothing.  He has brown hair, is between 5’6 and 5’8, and has a stocky build.

If you have additional information about either incident, call the Crime Stoppers at 977-4000.
