Dillwyn man’s death in I-64 Tuesday crash may be from other cause

FERNCLIFF (WINA) – State Police say a Dillwyn man is dead after a Tuesday afternoon crash on I-64 in Louisa County, but it’s possible his death is not the result of crash injuries. Nevertheless, the crash was serious as 61-year old Vennor Peaks was the driver of a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer shortly after noon Tuesday that had stopped partially blocking the right lane and deceleration lane from westbound 64 to Exit 143… the Louisa-Ferncliff exit.

A tractor-trailer could not stop in time and smashed into the Trailblazer, knocking the Trailblazer into another vehicle in the left lane. The tractor-trailer then ran off the right side of the interstate into some trees.

Peaks was transported to a local hospital and declared dead, and remains are at the medical examiner to determine cause of death. The tractor-trailer driver suffered non-life threatening injuries… and the driver of the third vehicle was not hurt.
