ACPD makes arrest in May shooting at Brookdale Apartments

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle County Police, with assistance from the U.S. Marshalls, arrested a 20-year-old Charlottesville man late Wednesday night in connection with a May 24 shooting incident outside the Brookdale Apartment Community, the ACPD announced Thursday.

Anthony Hopkins was arrested and charged with four felonies, including attempted malicious wounding, shooting from a vehicle, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and gang participation.

Hopkins is being held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail. Hopkins was officially booked at 1:18 a.m. Thursday, according to an ACPD spokesperson.

Multiple residential buildings and vehicles were struck by gunfire during the May 24 incident, but no injuries were reported.
