ACPD makes fourth arrest in October 2024 shooting

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Jamarques Lamont Andres Jones, an 18-year-old Charlottesville resident, became the fourth person charged in connection with October 2024 shooting at the Rio Hill Apartments, an incident that took the life of a 23-year-old man.

The Albemarle County Police Department announced his arrest Tuesday.

Raymond Carter Jr., 19, of Charlottesville, Darnell Morris Jr., 24, of Charlottesville, and Kaveigh Palmer, 20, of Richmond, had already been charged with seven felonies each for their roles in the shooting near the Rio Hills Apartments.

Jones is the fourth person ACPD has arrested in connection the October 19, 2024, shooting, an incident that involved multiple gunshots, with several vehicles and apartments struck as well.

Jones has been charged with malicious wounding, malicious wounding by mob, gang participation, conspiracy to commit a felony and three counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
