UPDATED: Albemarle Police continue seeking critically missing elderly man

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – UPDATED 8/19 8:40 a.m.: Albemarle Police have released a more recent photo as they continue seeking the public’s help finding 80-year old Lawrence Thomas.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact ACPD at 434-977-9041.

Albemarle Police is seeking the public’s help in locating a missing person they say means a credible threat to his health. 80-year old Lawrence Thomas has dementia, and was last seen between 5-and-6 p.m. Sunday evening, August 17 walking to a mailbox at his residence in the 7000 block of Secretary Sands Road.

He’s 5’5″ tall and about 130 pounds with grey hair and brown eyes. He was reportedly last seen wearing a green t-shirt and blue denim jeans.

Community members may see a large police presence in this area while ACPD and the Albemarle County Sheriff’s Office complete search and rescue operations.
