CROZET, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle County reports construction in downtown Crozet is moving steadily toward completion as the Crozet Square and Oak Street Improvements Project moves past halfway through near the completion of Stage Three. In a newsletter, the county reports since breaking ground in January, the project has delivered significant infrastructure upgrades while maintaining access to all local businesses, keeping the community connected throughout each stage of work.

Work completed so far includes stormwater upgrades, sidewalk installations, new on-street parking, and paving along Oak Street and the western portion of The Square. These early phases have improved both function and appearance, while also improving accessibility through new curb and gutter systems and accessible walkways.

Stage Three has focused on the section of The Square stretching from Crozet Avenue to the Alley. This phase includes significant improvements to the entrance and exit at Crozet Avenue, new curb and gutter installation at the Square parking area, an upgraded sidewalk along Crozet Avenue, and the marking of parking spaces. In addition, aging streetlights are being replaced with updated lighting, and new curb ramps and stairs are being constructed in front of businesses to enhance accessibility and pedestrian flow.

Beginning in September, Stage 4 will continue sidewalk replacement along the eastern portion of The Square past the Alley, along with additional paving, grading, and the completion of parking space markings. Stage 5, scheduled for later in the fall, will include the final paving of the roadway, installation of new signage, and road striping—bringing the entire project to a close, on schedule, by the end of December 2025.

This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary." As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
