Family of Six Displaced After House Fire in Albemarle County

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA –CVILLERIGHTNOW – On Friday, June 28, 2024, at approximately 6:41 pm, career and volunteer units from Albemarle County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a reported home fire in the 3600 block of Green Creek Road.
The first fire unit arrived 17 minutes later and observed smoke showing from the single-story attic vents. Crews were able to extinguish the fire in a little more than 10 minutes. The family was not home at the time of the incident.
The fire displaced a family of six and their pets. Friends, family, and the American Red Cross are providing assistance.
The investigation is being led by the Albemarle County Fire Marshals Office. It is believed the fire is due to electrical resistance heating. The estimated damage caused by the fire is $45,000.
