RICHMOND, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Chesterfield County State Senator Ghazala Hashmi has announced formation of a select committee to investigate police response to encampments at Virginia’s universities. Erection of tents led to police in riot gear pushing pro-Palestinian demonstrators out of encampments on campuses of UVa, Virginia Tech, and VCU. Hashmi is chair of the Senate Health and Education Committee, and is forming this panel after the House announced similar action earlier this week.
