John F. Harris selected UVA Health System Board public member

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The University of Virginia Board of Visitors approved John F. Harris as a public, non-voting member of the UVA Health System Board on Tuesday.

The Board took the vote in a special meeting, selecting the former Carlyle Group CFO to join five other public members.

“Whereas the Board of Visitors may appoint up to six non-voting public members of the health system board with terms not to exceed four years, resolved John F. Harris of Charlottesville, VA is appointed as a public member of the health system board,” read board member Doug Wetmore.

The UVA Health System Board, according to the BOV website, is comprised of six voting members who are members of the Board of Visitors, with at least one of those members “a physician with administrative and clinical experience in an academic medical center.”

One of those members must also be the Rector.

Wetmore read, “Mr. Harris’ terms if for four years commencing January 6, 2026 and ending June 30, 2030.

Harris joins Dr. Kenneth Botsford, William Crutchfield, Steven Danziger, Peter Gallagher, and Victoria Harker as the six “public members”.

The voting members are Wetmore, Chair Paul Manning, Vice Chair Dr. David Okonkwo,  Dr. Steven Long, Daniel Brody, and Rector Rachel Sheridan who is also ex-officio.

There are also eight non-BOV ex-officio members.
