CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The two young girls who were hurt in a Keswick fire that killed both their parents are recovering, according to a social media post from the First In Foundation, which is helping coordinate support for the children.

“Your kindness and compassion have turned heartbreak into hope,” the post said.

Emma Williams was taken to UVA Hospital, while her sister Lilly went to VCU following the Oct. 5 house fire on Starry Sky Lane in Keswick that claimed the lives of Ashley and Stephen Williams, both 37.

The Williams family and First In Foundation posted that Emma was released from UVA a few days ago, while Lilly remains at VCU where her condition is improving and she remains under observation. Doctors are optimistic she will make a full recovery, according to the post.

The post also thanked the community for giving over $130,000 to a GoFundMe page established to help the two girls.

The East Rivanna Volunteer Fire Company, with whom the Williams family has been involved all their lives, and First In Foundation set up a fundraiser for the girls about a week ago.

First In in a weekend social media post says,

“With your continued support, we fully intend to provide for every part of the girls’ future – up to and including college, if possible.”

“Every donation, message, and share has made a meaningful impact and continues to carry this family forward.”
