CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Juan Manuel Torres-Reyes has been found guilty of multiple charges stemming from an investigation involving an inappropriate relationship with an 11-year-old, according to the Nelson County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.

“It took tremendous courage on behalf of the victim to come forward and testify before the jury,” said Nelson County Commonwealth’s Attorney Daniel Rutherford in a statement.

On August 19, 2025, Torres-Reyes, also known as Juan Mateo Torres, was convicted on one count of aggravated sexual battery of a minor, one count of indecent liberties of a child, and one count of object sexual penetration of a minor.

Sentencing on these charges is scheduled for November 7.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Benjamin Beliles and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Quinn Conrad.

“My office is dedicated to protecting our children and we shall vigorously prosecute every sexual offense of a minor,” said Rutherford in a statement. “I am grateful for the professionalism and skill in the courtroom of Mr. Beliles and Ms. Conrad, the dedication of the Victim’s Witness Advocate, Beth Phelps, and for the hard work of Investigator Tobin with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.”
