Two in CPD custody after early Sunday morning shots fired

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville Police have two suspects in custody after shots were fired near the Sunrise Elementary School soccer field early Sunday morning.

CPD announced that shortly after midnight, officers responded to the call of gunshots in the area of Willow Drive and Grace Street.

Police did not say whether anyone or anything was hit, but shell casings were found on the ground adjacent to the school’s soccer field.

Two suspects were located near the scene and taken into custody after an investigation.

Two firearms were also recovered as evidence.

No other information is available at this time.
