Two men arrested in shooting of two women at Churchville area party


CHURCHVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Augusta County Sheriff has two men in custody in the Saturday night shooting of two teens during a party altercation in the Churchville area. The sheriff’s office got the call around 10:30pm and arrived and found two females, one 19-years old and the other 17-years old, had been shot in legs at a location at Buffalo Gap Highway and Churchville Avenue. The suspects then reportedly fled in a black Ford Mustang.

Deputies collected evidence that led them to 21-year old Isaiah J. Cassell of Mount Solon and 20-year old Matthew T. Cassell of West Augusta Road. Isaiah Cassell was arrested in the 1100 block of Mount Solon Road, and Matthew Cassell was arrested several hours later in the 600 block of Sibling Springs Road. Isaiah Cassell faces two counts of aggravated malicious wounding severely injured victim and two counts of attempted malicious wounding, as well as three firearms counts. Matthew Cassell is charged with two counts accessory before aggravated malicious wounding, three firearms counts, and three counts capias for violating conditions of bond. Additional charges are pending.
