CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A University of Virginia response takes some exception to a Student Council “no confidence” resolution passed Friday regarding the Board of Visitors presidential selection process, and claims student involvement in this process exceeds the 2017 search.

The statement names a current undergrad Gregory Perryman, a student council recommendation Quana Dennis, an adult learner Dr. Babur Lateef, and Olympic athlete Gretchen Walsh as part of the committee.

The note from University spokesperson Bethanie Glover also notes Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer Kenyon Bonner is also on the committee, who is :responsible for overseeing the student experience, and also has a valuable and expansive perspective that will be helpful in the search for the next president”.

The statement concludes ‘the search process will include many additional avenues for students and all stakeholders to make their voices heard, and their feedback will be important to the final outcome of this process”.
