Area will be under winter weather advisory Friday

Snow from a February '25 storm in Charlottesville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Charlottesville and Albemarle County area Friday from 1 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Mixed precipitation is expected with total snow accumulations according to the weather service 1-to-2 inches, and Accuweather forecasting 1-to-3, and ice accumulations around a light glaze.

Forecasters urge planning on slippery road conditions as the hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning commute.

The National Weather Service says given temperatures will be in the 20s, snow is expected to accumulate on all untreated surfaces.

A light snow will overspread the advisory area, with slightly higher amounts possible in any banding features.

As snow winds down toward early afternoon, a light freezing drizzle is possible into Friday evening.
