Videos of the Day: Week of 1/7/19

1/7 – ICYMI: Weezer’s version of “Africa” topped our Corner Top 106 of 2018 on New Year’s Eve & they made an appearance on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve later than night on ABC!

1/8 – Hozier is back with his 2nd full length album early this year (can you believe it’s been 5 years since “Take Me To Church?”) and described his new video to NPR: “I was first confronted by Sergei’s talent when I saw a performance of his set to my music in collaboration with David LaChapelle. I believe one of the greatest things to become of your own work is for it to form part of another artist’s vision or execution. That performance itself gave rise to ideas in the song ‘Movement,’ so I was incredibly proud to work with Sergei on this video. Sergei Polunin is a once-in-a-generation talent. He’s a man of incredible skill and artistry and shows a dedication to his art form that I find inspiring. I’m thrilled to share this with everyone.”

1/9 – this looks to be a breakout year for Kelsey Lu.  She’s a singer, cellist, and producer who left her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, at age 18 and recorded her 2016 debut EP live in a Brooklyn church.  Now she’s been signed to Columbia Records & has collaborated with Solange

1/10 – here’s another one from Julia Jacklin’s forthcoming Crushing album, out 2/22

1/11 – if you’ve ever wondered what the full band sound of the DJ duo known as Jungle is like, they were on Colbert’s Late Show on CBS not too long ago…
