Videos of the Day – week of 12/1

since we took the week off last week (from updating videos anyway…), lots of cool things to catch up on this week!  The bonus video above is a Kim Deal solo track from earlier this year…as you’ll see below, she’s had a busy year, even without being part of the new Pixies album!

12/1 – in case you missed the World Aids Day concert tonight in Times Square, here it is via YouTube…Chris Martin sings with “U2 minus 1” about six minutes in & Bruce Springsteen joins them about 40 minutes in!

12/2 – the new She & Him album is out today.  It features 13 covers of classic songs, recorded live and accompanied by a 20-piece orchestra.  The track list includes:  Dusty Springfield’s “Stay Awhile”, Johnny Mathis’ “It’s Not for Me to Say”, and “Unchained Melody”

12/3 – One of my favorite albums of all time gets another deluxe re-issue this week, as Pixies’ Doolittle turns 25.  While 3 of the original Pixies put out a series of EPs that led to their 1st new studio album since Trompe Le Monde, bassist Kim Deal got The Breeders back together this year, did a 20th anniversary of Last Splash reissue & tour & sporadically puts out solo material through her website, like this song & video unveiled over the holiday weekend…

12/4 – Purity Ring has released a new song & video this week! Wonder how long it took them to film this one?

12/5 – Sam Smith’s update of a Christmas classic has just debuted…congrats to Sam on his 6 Grammy nominations, tying him with Beyonce & Pharrell!
