Videos of the Day – week of 6/30

6/30 – soul music legend Bobby Womack passed away late Friday…as this obituary details, he pretty much saw & did it all, whoa.  He just played Bonnaroo earlier this month & here’s a classic he wrote that you may know from The Rolling Stones’ version (their 1st #1 in the UK) which Bobby performed live at Relix earlier this year…

And here’s a version of “Across 110th Street” from 2012 live on Later with Jools Holland…

and even though it’s lip-synched, here’s another worth watching from a 1974 Soul Train episode…

7/1 – Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek has had a busy year, with the reunion of his old band, their tour & now his new solo album out today!  Other streetdate stuff today includes Old Crow Medicine Show, Bad Suns, NoNoNo, The Begin Again soundtrack (Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Keira Knightley) & The Broadway version of the Hedwig & The Angry Inch soundtrack with Neil Patrick Harris in the title role!

7/2 – since today & tmrw are expected to be 100+ on the Heat Index, here’s a snowy, brand-new video from Telepopmusik feat. the singer from Ride to cool us off!

7/3 – in honor of one of the coolest frontwomen ever’s 69th birthday this week, here’s Blondie live at Glastonbury just last weekend!  Btw, there are tons of other official BBC videos from the festival this year on YouTube that are well-worth checking out!

7/4 – Just found out there’s a tribute to Springsteen’s Born in the USA coming out 9/16 called Dead Man’s Town & it features Jason Isbell & his wife Amanda Shires!
