Sara Bareilles arrived in the Corner Lounge in 2007 with simply a portable keyboard, no entourage. She was set to open for Maroon 5 at JPJ (The Hives were awkwardly but awesomely sandwiched in-between). She did a great version of her brand-new single “Love Song” for us that went on to become one of the big hits of that year & she became one of the biggest pop stars around. In 2009, we did a session at Virginia Arts with an audience of Corner VIPs before she played UVA’s Springfest (w/ Grace Potter opening). She went on to sell out The Pavilion in 2014 and we checked in with her via phone.
