The Department of Motor Vehicles can now recall and replace existing license plates which include Confederate flags. A final order from Federal Judge Jackson Kiser was issued Thursday.

Kiser has vacated an injunction he issued in January 2001 that allowed the Sons of Confederate Veterans to have license plates with the stars and bars. Governor McAuliffe announced in June that the DMV will stop issuing the plates to members of the heritage group.
